What is a deductible?

A deductible is the amount of money paid toward the cost of medical expenses you are responsible for before your insurance starts to cover them. The most common deductible is $500. A $500 deductible means that you would be responsible for paying the first $500 in medical expenses before the coverage would kick in. A higher deductible will usually lower monthly premiums.

What is a co-payment?

What is coinsurance?
